it is taking a number of jobs and millions of dollars from the city. >> it is an unfortunate side for the city of baltimore. the usns comfort leaving forever. making its new home in northern virginia. just a few dockworkers and security personnel are showing up at the canton return the mall -- canton marine terminal for the last time. >> we are gonna miss a lot of people. it is like a family. that is one thing. it is like a home for them here. >> comfort, a supertanker turn hospital ship has called

baltimore home. it provides a floating medical facility for use during warfare or an international disaster, like 11 news saw firsthand in january 2010 when comfort was deployed to haiti after a zero. -- a 7.0 earthquake struck. it also serves in humanitarian missions, providing medical care around the caribbean and south america. the question is why does it need to leave baltimore? officials say there are a number of reasons. >> it puts it closer to the ocean, closer to the nations and regions that it does provide humanitarian support for. it is also co-located with medical treatment personnel. it is also a cost saving initiative for the navy and the taxpayer. >> after its bid after three

what we will see the today. 40 degrees downtown, 39 at the airport. the good news is, most of the temperatures are now well above the freezing mark. this makes this mostly a rain event, rather than ice. we still have to worry about a little bit of sleet in west counties of the baltimore-metro area. that includes far western carol. in frederick county there could be a little ice. it is mainly a rain event. we will talk about when this rain and and we can see more snow showers. details in the full forecast. >> a hertford county public school official is charged with having sex with his student. this isn't the first incident on county school grounds. >> he started at bel air high in 2010, and that is where he accused of having inappropriate

relationships with a student. 24-year-old anthony was working as a teacher's aide when he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year old student. >> very upset and irritated. i don't know what to do. it is frustrating. >> county school officials sent letters home to parents of explaining his arrest and allegations. the school system spokesperson said he has been placed on administrative leave on january 25 of this year. as of the day of his arrest he is no longer an employee at her for county public schools. -- hereford county public schools. in response to both the arrests,

the county spokesperson said that all potential school employees are observed and evaluated and undergo background checks and fingerprinting prior to being hired. >> this individual needs special attention. he should not be in that type of atmosphere. there is no way to test for somebody like that. >> he faces charges of sex abuse of a minor, fourth degree sex offense, and perverted practice is. he is out on bail. >> thank you. police are working to edify human remains found at two separate locations. the first one is in laurel, where police say a couple was birdwatching when they discovered what appears to be a human skull. about noon in monday -- and remains were transported to a medical examiner's office here in baltimore. anyone with information is asked to call investigators.

the remains of a second body located near of baltimore county school was discovered monday afternoon in a wooded area. county homicide texas are now investigating. anyone with information is asked to call investigators. the man accused of trespassing and burning a high school is back in court today. a judge will this morning that the 25-year-old is in fact competent to stand trial. beaumont was arrested for illegally entering north county high school this month and asking detailed questions about their security system. detectives discovered loaded assault style weapons and high capacity magazines. all the weapons were legally owned but mental health concerns prompted authorities to seize them. 15-year old robert gladden jr. begins at 35 yoear prison

sentence today after critically injuring classmates. we are hearing chilling words of witnesses of his shooting. he was questioned by police. >> he told my son he had 21 bullets and who ever got in his will was going to get shot. >> do you feel bad at all? >> not really. >> a 17-year-old classmate has since recovered since he was shot in the back on monday. the judge sentenced him to life in prison with all but 35 years to spend it. >> there were a lot of people hurt in that room that day. nobody deserves that. he is a boy that is going to jail. he committed a crime. he is going to pay for that crime. >> robert said he did not intentionally targeted daniel. he also called what he did

gallon you will only save about 50 cents per fill up. >> now for your forecast with a summary. >> it looks like the rain is already on our doorstep. for the most part this is fairly light in nature and most of it is evaporating before reaching the ground. it just goes to show the atmosphere is try to saturate and the rain could begin at any point. we are seeing eyes showing up in western maryland, especially about garrett county. there is concern the ice could stick on the roads. everyone else climbing above the freezing mark. this will mostly be a sleet concern, even into areas like frederick county, western county as well. let's talk temperatures. that is what is so crucial to the impact of the storm system. it is well above freezing cold

at the airport and downtown this is going to be a rain event and it is quite a stay rain even as it hits the surface. notice how the temperatures drop down near hagerstown. we have 36 in hancock. we get all the way west into garrett county. 28 degrees right now. as that rain hits the surface it freezes on contact. ice could accumulate and you could get a little sleet out into western maryland. the rain is probably going to slow you down on the roads as well. plenty more rate set a common threat the afternoon. we will continue to build and through the south and west. temperatures are pretty much holding steady. we are talking upper thirty's and the low 40's for the rest of the day. rain could continue into the night and could be heavy at times. that should turn all the way to rain as the warmer air continues to come in from the south. we will continue to worry about

this rain late into the night. it should move off to the north as it moves in tomorrow morning. there could be a couple of showers around the start of your day tomorrow. forecast for tonight, rain is likely heavy at times. temperatures will hold into the low 40's. the rain doesn't drop off that much with the easterly winds at 10 miles per hour to 20 miles per hour. it comes down a little bit late on with less expected for tomorrow. we will see a couple of showers start of the day. once again you will see scattered showers possible. high temperatures tomorrow in the upper 40's and low 50's. temperatures will start to fall once again as we go through the afternoon. this is a two part storm system. one area of the pressure down into georgia. the second one is what is causing the blizzard. this is what we have to worry about all the way through thursday. as the second piece of the storm will -- of the storm comes our
